Is Target-Earth an official MPC, ESA or NASA product?
No. It is an independent source-traceable visualization. Official data sources are cited, while PSEUDO-MPEC reports are clearly marked as analytical reconstructions.
Why is the download smaller than the production archive?
The application opens the twelve public event films on YouTube rather than bundling their HD bitstreams. Verified 4K and HD masters remain separate production assets.
Does it send observation data?
No. The application reads its bundled/local data. It does not submit observations to the MPC.
How do updates work?
At most once per calendar day, the app requests the small HTTPS versions manifest and sends only its versioned pseudonymous installation ID. A 30-day grace begins only after a newer version has been detected successfully. A network failure alone never starts or resets that period.
Why might Windows show a warning?
The EXE and setup are Authenticode-signed, but reputation-based SmartScreen warnings may still occur for a new, rarely downloaded release. Verify the signature and SHA-256 hash.
Are macOS, Linux or phone versions available?
No. This package targets 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11.
What does it cost?
Target-Earth is currently offered as a free research and visualization tool.
