Daily operation

  1. Open Rubin Nights Update and choose Update now for a manual run.
  2. Use the Task scheduling tab to install the once-daily Windows task.
  3. Choose Open website. If the preferred port is occupied, the app automatically uses the next free local port.

The updater checks the official report index on every normal run, downloads only reports not already cached, applies retry backoff to failed URLs, rebuilds all exports and then regenerates this website.

Object check

The GUI imports ADES XML, ADES PSV and OBS80-like text. The Object Check page can additionally evaluate an OBS80 file entirely in the browser without a local API or web server and without saving or uploading the file. This works on the public static website and when objects.html is opened directly. The configured object source is refreshed during the daily run when it is available. If a mapped drive is temporarily offline, the last successful objects.csv remains in use.

The interactive controls change the +/-day window, the same-date grouping time and the maximum angular group diameter. Numeric values and selected status buttons are saved immediately in this browser. The last successful evaluation is stored locally and restored when its settings and website build still match. Browsers do not permit the selected local file itself to be selected again automatically.

A possible hit means that at least one member position lies within 1.75 degrees of a Rubin field center and within +/-5 days of the grouped user times. Every group without a Rubin hit remains visible. This is a field-overlap test, not orbit propagation.

Command line

RubinNightsUpdateCLI.exe --help
RubinNightsUpdateCLI.exe --run-update --scheduled
RubinNightsUpdateCLI.exe --run-update --force-errors
RubinNightsUpdateCLI.exe --status
RubinNightsUpdateCLI.exe --serve --open-browser
RubinNightsUpdateCLI.exe --install-task --task-time 03:20

The windowed RubinNightsUpdateApp.exe is used for the GUI and unattended task. The console companion uses the same core modules and exposes readable CLI output.

Local files and privacy

Cache, object imports, generated tables, website files and logs remain in the local Rubin Nights project. The app sends no analytics or user object data. Network requests are limited to the official Rubin report URLs selected by the update.
