Privacy

MPC Packer is a local Windows application. Personal data is not processed for advertising, tracking or profiling purposes.

1. Controller

The controller for this website and the provision of the software is Jost Jahn, Amrum Software. Contact: MPCPacker@jostjahn.de.

2. Hosting and Server Log Files

When the website is opened and files are downloaded, the hosting provider processes technically necessary server log data. This may include IP address, date and time of access, requested file, transferred data volume, referrer, browser type, operating system and HTTP status.

The purpose is secure delivery of the website, error analysis and abuse prevention. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. If the host anonymizes log data or deletes it after a short time, the concrete retention period follows the host's technical rules. This website itself does not set first-party tracking cookies.

3. Downloads and Update Checks

Downloading the setup, standalone EXE, CLI tools, example files or hash files creates a normal web-server request. The current application does not automatically check a published version file. No user account, serial number or observation file is transmitted.

4. Local Application Data

MPC Packer processes entered designations and loaded files locally on your computer. When you load a file, the program reads only the selected file. When you export, it writes only the output file selected by you. In the current version, the GUI does not store its own database, a permanent archive of converted designations or a hidden copy of loaded observation files. SQLite WAL is not used.

5. External Domain Data Requests from the App

The application does not call MPC, MPEC, ADES or other external domain services for conversion. MPC designations, OBS80 lines and ADES files are evaluated locally. External links are loaded only when you deliberately open them in the browser.

6. Contact

If you contact the provider by email, the information you transmit is processed to handle the request. It is shared only where necessary to handle the request or where required by law. Observation files may contain technical information such as object designations, times, coordinates, magnitudes, station codes or internal processing notes; send such files only when they are needed for troubleshooting.

7. Cookies, Analytics and Advertising

This website does not use analytics tools, advertising networks or first-party tracking cookies. External links are loaded only when clicked.

8. Recipients and Third-Country Transfers

Recipients may include the website hosting provider and email services if you deliberately contact the provider. External services have their own privacy information.

9. Your Rights

Subject to the GDPR requirements, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Independent Centre for Data Protection Schleswig-Holstein: datenschutzzentrum.de.
